Umar Joins Kotoko

Asante Kotoko is pleased to announce the signing of left-back Umar Ali on a two-year contract.
The 22-year-old joins the Porcupine Warriors after playing for Banyias in the UAE Pro League during the 2024/2025 season. He made 21 league appearances and provided four assists.
Ali’s arrival offers defensive options to strengthen the South African coach’s left-back options.
Although primarily a left-back, Ali is also comfortable playing as a left-centre back.
During his unveiling, he said:
I am proud to have this opportunity to play for Ghana’s biggest football club. Every young boy who has a dream of becoming a footballer here in Ghana always dreams of playing for Kotoko and I count myself as one of the lucky ones. Although I have not played in the Ghana league before, most of the players I have met here have told me what it takes to be successful here, and I am really looking forward to the start of the season.
