Kotoko Secure Signing Of Moroccan Goalkeeper

Asante Kotoko SC is delighted to announce the signing of 22- year-old Moroccan goalkeeper Abdelwadie Mourad . The  acquisition adds to Eric Tinkler’s strong goalkeeping options of Aziz Dari, Danlad Ibrahim and youth team graduate ,Clever Obeng.

Abdelwadie started his professional football career at Moroccan top-tier side Chabab Mohammedia. He played through the youth ranks until he was promoted to the first team, where he played 14 games.

He then moved to Albanian side Basania FC, where he played for half a season.

The 22-year old becomes the first Moroccan player to ever play for the two-time African Chmapions and Like most young goalkeepers in Morocco, Abdelwadie says Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia’s goalkeeper, Yassine Bonou is his idol. 

Asked why he chose to join the porcupine Warriors, the Moroccan stopper told the club’s media that the club is known everywhere on the African Continent.

Who doesn't know Asante Kotoko is the biggest club in Ghana? They have a lot of trophies, and I want to be part of this club, giving my best to let the team trust me. I wish to be the best goalkeeper in this club. This club is ambitious to do more, so that's why I chose this club.”

Stanley Menzo revealed that Abdelwadie’s positive attitude , desire to win more trophies matches the club’s ambitions and that his abilities in post is what made the club to consider bringing him in.
