Asante Kotoko is pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad.
The 23-year-old has returned to the club after a two-year stint with Ethiopian Coffe S.C. where he made 28 clean sheets in all competitions in over 55 appearances.
Danlad joined Kotoko in 2016 as a teenager and made his Premier League debut against Aduana F.C. in a 2-0 away win in the 2021-2022 title-winning season.
His outstanding performances earned him a call-up to Otto Addo’s World Cup squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Speaking to the club’s media, the former club captain expressed his joy at his return.
I am very excited to be back here again, even though I left two years ago, but I always felt that the story had to continue. To have another chance of playing for Asante Kotoko once again means everything to me and my family because the club has played a truly special role in my life.
Ibrahim, when asked about his goals for this season, responded:
I left as a young man, but now I am much more mature and have gained a lot of experience. Now I appreciate what it truly means to be a big name in a club, so, together with my colleagues, both the old and new faces, we will give everything for this club to win every competition.
Director of football Stanley Menzo said during Danlad’s signing:
I know he is still young in football terms but very experienced. He has been to the World Cup and in my career I also played as a goalkeeper, so I know what it takes to be one. That makes it easy to settle on him. Moreover, he has trained very well with us, and we are all impressed with his performances. He knows the club, the environment and the expectations here, so we are happy to add him to the competitive squad we are building.
