Asante Kotoko complete Shayibu Abubakar signing

Asante Kotoko have completed the signing of right-back Shayibu Abubakari on a three-year deal, following the successful completion of his medical.

The 21-year-old joins from Karela United and has previously featured for Real Tamale United. He also spent a short spell in the Czech Republic with Mladá Boleslav.

Abubakari is an athletic and attack-minded full-back who is equally comfortable playing higher up the pitch as a winger. He arrives to add depth and competition on the right side of defense, pushing Lord Amoah for a place in the team while Emmanuel Kotei continues his recovery from an ACL injury.

Speaking to Kotoko media after completing his move, Abubakari said, “I’m still young and I see this as a big opportunity to progress in my career. This is a great environment to learn, and I’m particularly looking forward to working with Lord Amoah and pushing myself every day. I’m here to grow and to give everything for this club.”
