Porcupines aim victory at Nalerigu

Asante Kotoko will make a trip to the North-East region on Saturday to take on Karela United at the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre in Nelerigu.

After the defeat on the road in the second round of the league at Kpando, the Porcupine Warriors returned to Baba Yara Stadium to beat Bibiani Goldstars 1-0 on Friday evening to pick up maximum points.

Karela United picked up a draw in Kumasi in the reverse fixture, and our last trip to Tamale saw us lose 2-0 and exit the F.A. Cup.

Prosper Narteh Ogum and his boys are determined to record their first win over Karela United since June 2021.

Karela United dropped to the 15th position on the league log after their 3-0 away defeat to Berekum Chelsea last Sunday, leaving them with 20 points in 19 games and a point away from the drop.

Asante Kotoko moved to the second (2nd) spot after Peter Acquah's strike in last Friday's victory over Bibiani GoldStars.

We go into matchday 20 as the top performers on the road this season, amassing 14 points while scoring 12 goals and conceding 10.

The hosts have managed 15 points from 10 home games, scoring nine and conceding eight goals in the process.

With our eyes set on the Premier League trophy, every game from now on is a must-win game. A victory on Saturday would see us keep pace with FC Samartex at the top of the Ghana Premier League log.

⚫Team news from training

• Richmond Lamptey will make a return after missing out in the last league game against GoldStars due to card accumulation.

• Nicholas Mensah, who was sent off against Heart of Lions, made his return to the team after missing the victory over Goldstars. He, however, featured in our 2-1 defeat to Asec Mimosas in the President's Cup and is in line to play a part on Saturday afternoon. 

• The technical team will be hopeful to have Isaac Oppong back in the squad after missing our last game.
