Shayibu Abubakar, has suffered a major setback after sustaining a serious knee injury during the team’s morning training session on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
The incident occurred when Abubakar collided with teammate Morifing Donzo in a challenge that left the young defender in visible pain.
The club’s medical team rushed to his aid and immediately provided on-field treatment before transferring him for further assessment in Accra.Subsequent IMR scans revealed that Abubakar had sustained an anterior cruciate, lateral, and collateral ligament tear, an injury that could sideline him for an extended period.
The 20-year-old full-back had only recently returned to action after recovering from a hamstring injury that kept him out for several weeks.Abubakar, who has been one of the club’s brightest young prospects, will return to Kumasi to consult a specialist for further evaluation and to determine the next steps in his recovery.
