Asante Kotoko were held to a goalless draw by Nations FC in a rain-soaked Ghana Premier League match day five encounter at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

The highly anticipated fixture was heavily influenced by a heavy downpour just before warm/up, leaving the pitch waterlogged and disrupting the rhythm of play. Coming off the back of a convincing 2–0 midweek victory over Bibiani Goldstars, Coach Abdul Karim Zito’s men were eager to make it two wins in three days and, crucially, record their first-ever win over Nations FC since the latter’s promotion to Ghana's top flight.

With leading marksman Albert Amoah sidelined through injury, Guinean forward Morifing Donzo led the attack for the Porcupine Warriors, while his compatriot Mohammed Camara returned between the sticks replacing Aziz Haruna Dari after missing the last two matches as Zito's rotational strategy continued.

The difficult playing surface restricted both sides to limited opportunities, as the ball frequently held up in puddles on the soggy turf. Despite the challenges, Kotoko created the game’s clearest chance when Donzo’s goal-bound strike was dramatically cleared off the line, denying the visitors what would have been a deserved winner.

The stalemate extends Kotoko’s unbeaten start to the season, with the team amassing eight points from four games without conceding a single goal.

Attention now turns to continental duties as the Porcupine Warriors host Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in a game billed as the Red Redemption.
