Zeze, Rocky & Asare nominated for Ghana Premier League awards

Goalkeeper Frederick Asare and midfielders Eric Serge Zeze and Rocky Dwamena have received nominations in various categories for the upcoming 2022/23 Ghana Premier League awards

Goalkeeper Frederick Asare made the shortlist for the goalkeeper of the year for his superb exploits in his debut season with us.

The shot-stopper's brilliant ball distributions and his ability to command his area delivered countless numbers of great saves, saving the team on many occasions. Asare featured in twenty-one Premier League games in the 2022/23 season.

Our Ivorian midfield Eric Serge Zeze received a nomination for the goal of the season after his magnificent solo run match-winning goal against Aduana FC has seen him make the four-man shortlist ahead of the maiden Ghana Premier League awards.

The midfielder's brilliant strike against Aduana FC at Baba Yara in March has already been voted as the best goal of the season by GF Awards (private awards) during the awards ceremony in June.

Rocky Dwamena's breakthrough performance in his debut top-flight campaign during the 2022/23 season earned him a place on the shortlist for Discovery of the Year.

Dwamena made his debut in the biggest game on the Ghana Football Association club football calendar when Asante Kotoko hosted Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash last year.

The youngster made thirteen appearances (with eight starts) in the Ghana Premier League, scoring three goals and registering two assists.

Dwamena scored his debut goal against Samartex in an away fixture, which earned Asante Kotoko their first away points in the second round of the season (matchday 22).

His second goal of the season saw him scoring an amazing long-range goal against Tamale City at Baba Yara Stadium with his third goal coming against Kotoku Royals when Asante Kotoko recorded a 3-1 away victory at Dawu Park.

The Awards ceremony will be held in Accra at the UPSA Auditorium on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 6 pm.
