Our shotstopper Frederick Asare has been handed his maiden Ghana Black Stars call-up for this month’s international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda.

Asare was named alongside three other goalkeepers, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Joseph Wollacott, and David Akologo, in Otto Addo’s squad.

Asare, who is in camp for today’s Premier League game in Dormaa, joins Otto Addo’s 26-man squad for the Black Stars’ forthcoming fixtures in Morocco.

Asare was named the Premier League Goalkeeper of the Month in December by the Ghana Football Association after an unbeaten run in the month with four clean sheets, four wins, a draw, and conceding two goals in five Premier League matches in December.

Frederick will be hoping to get the opportunity to play after rising through the National Team ranks, featuring for the Black Starlets (U17), Black Satellites (U20), and Black Galaxies in the last few years.

Frederick Asare will face his fellow Asante Kotoko teammate from Uganda, Steven Dese Mukwala, who also received a call-up and is set to feature for Uganda when they come up against Ghana on March 26, 2024.

Ghana will play the Super Green Eagles of Nigeria on Friday, March 22, before facing Steven Mukwala’s Cranes of Uganda on March 26, 2024, at the Stade Grande Marrakech in Morocco.

From the entire Asante Kotoko team, we say congratulations to Frederick Asare. We look forward to watching him play in our national colours.
